The ecclesiastical institution located in the central area of Calbourne was founded in the year 826.The current church, albeit displaying mediaeval characteristics, had a reconstruction of its tower in the year 1752.

The artefact showcases a depiction of a knight adorned in armour, portrayed in brass, assuming a prayerful posture with hands clasped together, while his feet rest upon a canine companion. The knight depicted in the image is believed to represent William Montacure, an individual of historical significance who held the title of Earl of Salisbury and served as a governor of the island during the 14th century.
