Allied – Typhoon 1B DN303

As a result of technical issues, a Tangmere-based Hawker Typhoon 1B belonging to the 486th Squadron was had to make an emergency landing in Brading Marshes on May 25. Flt. Sgt. D. Bennett, who was uninjured and managed to straighten himself out and go over to the local St. Helens Train Station, where he phoned the airport and reported that he would be late for tea, was flying it at the time.
