Located on the expansive open downland, situated atop the prominent central chalk ridge of the Isle of Wight, and providing a vantage point over the village of Arreton, there exist two circular burial mounds in the present day. One of these mounds, referred to as Michael Morey’s Hump by the local community, stands at an impressive height of approximately 9 feet.
The other, smaller in size and lacking a specific designation, is less than half the height of its counterpart. This report will focus on the latter mound. The barrow is situated at a distance of 20 feet in the south-west direction, adjacent to the man-made cliff formed by the Down End Chalk Quarry.
