In 1967, the Danish Coaster ran into trouble east of Bembridge Ledge while carrying a load of 500 tonnes of china clay. The ship eventually sunk due to a leak. The stern of the Bettann is reportedly laying in around 12 mts of water, making it a lovely and uncomplicated shallow dive for beginner divers.
She sunk in 1967, therefore the wreck is not very old. Because she was a navigational danger after being sliced in two, the wreck was attempted to be moved from the shallows, which explains why the bow and stern are separated by such a large distance.
However, the stern came free as it was being towed away and sank once again during the procedure.
