The line to Ventnor was opened in 1866, one of the new halts along the way was Brading.

On August 23rd 1864 the Isle of Wight Railway Company, opened a longer seven and a quarter mile line from Ryde St Johns Road to Shanklin, with the Brading stop being part of that journey.
This was extended to Ventnor in 1866 taking in Wroxall onroute.
The station is still active today as part of Island Line Ryde to Shanklin service.
