The main station building was torn down, and in its place there is now a supermarket owned and operated by the Co-op. Behind the Co-op, at the Honour and Jeffery Garden Centre, there are still sections of the platform that have not been removed.
The Freshwater Station was the biggest on the line and consisted of a single platform and a brick structure that was two stories tall. It was located at the end of a short approach road that was accessed from School Green Road. In order to handle longer trains, the platform was enlarged by a factor of four. In addition to a cattle dock, the station had a run-around loop and two goods sidings. In addition, there was an engine shed as well as two carriage sheds, all of which were razed in the year 1927.
After the station was closed, a book kiosk was moved to another location in the town, where it is still open for business. When the railway was taken over by the Southern Railway, the signal box was moved from Newport to Freshwater. After the Southern Railway took over the line, the signal box was converted into a bus shelter and moved to Wootton on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in 1987.
