German – Messerschmitt Bf109e-4 from 6/JG27

On August 18, 1940, around 3 p.m., a Messerschmitt Bf109 piloted by Obltn R. Moeller-Friedrich crashed. The pilot had already bailed out over Tapnell Farm before being apprehended by military conducting training in the area.

The majority of the wreckage was removed at the time, but a 1982 excavation uncovered the propeller and other engine fragments.
