Originally opened in 1997 in a former warehouse on Newport Quay, the museum has now relocated to the Southern Vectis Bus Depot in Park Road, Ryde. Tram cars from 1889 and a Daimler from 1927 are among them; more modern automobiles are also present. There is also a large collection of images showcasing the Island’s popularity as a vacation spot during the “bucket and spade” era, as well as several items of memorabilia and cars in various stages of rebuilding and restoration.

A band of enthusiastic Volunteers are responsible for keeping the Bus Museum running, and new visitors are always welcome to peek their heads around the door. On rare occasions like bus rallies, carnivals, and open houses, we put our repaired vehicles back into service for the public to enjoy.

A gift store, snack bar, and restrooms are conveniently located nearby. Visit this intriguing museum while visiting the Isle of Wight and think back to the “Golden Age of Bus Transport.”
