There is still evidence of the platform. The former station is now a public parking lot for cyclists using the nearby Perowne Way. The grassy side of the island platform is opposite the parking lot and bike path.
Prior to October 1, 1911, the station was called Merstone Junction. Originally, there was just one platform at this station, but in 1897, when the Newport, Godshill & St. Lawrence Railway began service, it was remodelled into its present-day island configuration. Due to its remote location, the station rarely saw a high volume of foot traffic, with its busiest periods coinciding with train connections between the Sandown and Ventnor lines. A pedestrian subway was given to the station at first, but it was frequently flooded, therefore the Southern Railway built a ramp instead. To one side of the island platform was a tiny goods yard.
Within the station building, near the level crossing, was the ticket office. On the far side of the level crossing, where the goods yard lay, was a small warehouse.
