Upper Shide Mill (Corn)
Ref Number: 00468
The Upper Mill along the River Medina has undergone a diversion from its previous path, resulting in the depletion of water in the mill pond that formerly supplied the Upper Mill located at Shide.
There was formerly a little mill situated in the intermediate space connecting the location of the wheel, the sluice gates, and the extant mill structure. The presence of a stone on the garden wall bearing the inscription “E.G.S 1762” suggests that this date may correspond to the building period of the mill.
The dwelling is an aesthetically pleasing brick structure constructed in the form of a “L” shape. Adjacent to the main residence and abutting the thoroughfare, there exists a structure that formerly served as a cart shed and auxiliary granary.
