The former police station is now a residence that has undergone extensive renovations. The station is hard to see since a cycleway has been built along the rail bed and a tall barrier has been constructed. Even though it has become overgrown, the down platform is still there.
The station shelter where passengers waited has been destroyed. The passing loop wasn’t installed at Whippingham Station until 1912, even though it was opened in 1875. Despite its remote position, the station servicing Queen Victoria’s Island residence at Osborne House was a majestic facility; at first it was reserved for private use, but the public was allowed to use it when a request was made.
After being nationalised, British Railways cut down the length of the down platform, which had just a modest wooden waiting shelter.
